Website Compliance Audit Outcome Emails: What They Mean and What to Do
Why Side audits brand websites, what the "Website Compliance Audit Outcome" email is telling you, and when you need to act.
Why Side Audits Websites
Side periodically reviews the websites that operate under a Side-branded team to confirm they follow State Real Estate Division advertising and licensing rules. When the review finds something that needs to change, the team leader receives an automated email titled Website Compliance Audit Outcome.
The email names the website that was reviewed and lists each item that needs to be adjusted.
Common Findings
| What the email says | What it means |
|---|---|
| An agent "cannot be displayed on websites" because they are not licensed with Side | Referral agents and other people who are not licensed with Side, Inc. cannot be shown as agents on a Side-branded site. |
| A license number is "no longer affiliated with Side" | The person has left Side, or their license has moved to another brokerage, so they must come off the website and any displayed license number must be removed. |
| Missing or incorrect brokerage disclosure or license details | The site is missing required licensing information and must be corrected before the audit can be closed. |
What You Need to Do
Most audit emails say "No action needed on your end". In that case Side's team is making the changes for you and you do not need to reply.
- Read the email and note which website and which people or details are listed.
- If the email says no action is needed, you are done. Side will update the site on your behalf.
- If the email asks you to make a change, update the site (or ask your web provider to) and reply to the original email once it is done.
- If you disagree with a finding — for example, the person listed is still licensed with Side — reply with the person's name and license number so the Compliance team can review it.
Keeping Your Website Compliant
You can avoid most findings by updating your site whenever your team changes.
- When an agent leaves your team or moves to another brokerage, remove them from your website and any team page the same week.
- Do not list referral agents or unlicensed assistants as agents or REALTORS® on your site.
- Keep each displayed license number current and make sure it matches the person's active license.
- Check that your brokerage name and license information appear as required in your state.
Common Questions
No. It is a routine review. Most items are minor and Side corrects them for you.
Only if the email asks you to take action or you believe a finding is wrong.
If the email says no action is needed, Side's team makes the update. If the site is built and hosted by your own provider, you may be asked to make the change.
The team leader or partner for the Side-branded team, not each agent individually.
The audit checks every person shown on the site against current license affiliation, so anyone who has left will be flagged until they are removed.
