Compensation Confirmation Needed: What It Means
Why you get an automated email asking you to confirm your compensation after a new offer, and what to do about it.
Why You Got This Email
After a new offer is accepted, Side reviews the transaction file and sends a "Compensation Confirmation Needed" email listing the address, the compensation amount on file, and the closing date. This is a routine check Side runs on every new offer — it isn't a sign of a problem with your transaction.
The goal is to catch any mismatch between the compensation entered in the file and what was actually agreed to before the transaction moves further along, since compensation is much easier to correct early than after closing.
What to Do
- Open the email and check the compensation amount listed against what you and the other party agreed to for this transaction.
- If the amount matches, no further action is needed — you can disregard the email.
- If the amount doesn't match, see If the Amount Doesn't Match below.
If the Amount Doesn't Match
If the compensation shown doesn't match what was agreed to, open the transaction in the Side App and check the compensation field for accuracy against your listing agreement, buyer representation agreement, or offer terms. If it needs correcting and you're not able to update it yourself, contact Side Support with the correct amount and supporting documentation (such as the signed agreement) so the file can be updated.
Common Questions
No reply is required if the amount is correct. It's a one-way confirmation check, not a request for a response unless something needs correcting.
Compensation details are sometimes entered before all deal terms are finalized. This check catches any gap between what's on file and what was actually agreed to, while it's still easy to fix.
If the amount on file is correct, nothing further happens. If it's incorrect and left uncorrected, it can cause a mismatch at closing, so it's worth double-checking even if you don't plan to reply.
