New Agent License Certifications: DRE eLicensing Notices
What to do when a state licensing notice — like a Broker-Associate Affiliation or salesperson license certification — lands in the support inbox.
What This Notice Is
State licensing bodies (for example, the California Department of Real Estate's eLicensing system) send an automated notice whenever an agent applies for a Broker-Associate Affiliation or a salesperson license renewal/application that requires the brokerage's certification. The notice usually names the applicant agent and asks the brokerage to log in and certify the application before it's considered complete.
Who Needs to Act
Certification must be completed by the brokerage's Designated Broker (or the person authorized to certify affiliations on the relevant state licensing portal) — not by Side Support directly, and not by the applying agent.
What Support Should Do
- If this notice is forwarded to or lands in the support inbox, forward it to elicensing@side.com for handling.
- For questions or escalations about a specific licensing notice, route to Jill Lemons, the eLicensing point of contact, rather than to the broker directly.
- Do not attempt to certify the application yourself — certification must happen on the state's licensing portal by an authorized brokerage representative.
Common Questions
The application will not be considered complete until certified. See the Agent License Renewal → article for what happens if a license lapses.
No — certification is a brokerage-level action performed by the Designated Broker or an authorized representative, not the applying agent.
